‘Cuisine’: Pronunciation Tutorial

If you aren’t sure how to pronounce ‘cuisine’, you’ve come to the right place.

As with many other English words, its pronunciation doesn’t match the spelling. ‘Cuisine’ is pronounced as kwi-zeen. The stress is on the second syllable.

  • kwi-
    You start with a K sound that is followed immediately by a W sound and a short i as in ‘ship’.
  • zeen
    To make the second syllable, you start with a Z sound and then move to a long ee as in ‘sheep’ .. and finally – an N sound.
